Due to increased concerns for the health of our community, we at FuseDSM, are looking for methods to continue to deliver support and value to our membership. This event has been moved to an online format. If you are already scheduled to attend this event, we will transfer your payment & registration to another Feed Your Mind of your choice in 2020. Other events for the foreseeable future are being evaluated and moved to an online format if feasible, rescheduled if necessary, or cancelled. We must do our part in keeping our community and staff healthy and safe, so while our physical offices may not always be staffed in person, rest assured we are open via phone and email.

Storytelling, Storyselling - Not Just the Facts

Think about the articles you choose to read daily. You pick up a magazine, look at a social media post, or read a book and what are you drawn to? Our brains thrive on connecting with others and letting our imaginations wander. Now relate this to your business and your marketing techniques, are you telling your story or simply laying out the facts? Nexus 6, a marketing agency was born with inspiration from the movie Blade Runner in several aspects. In the movie, The Nexus 6 model was almost indistinguishable from humans. It was truly the perfect blend of both tech and the human element. Dave found that this “human element” was missing from a lot of today’s marketing so he decided to go back to people’s roots and explore how people initially began to explore their world through stories with his new company.

From cave drawings to the Renaissance, people have told stories via many different mediums to influence and inform. In this Lunch & Learn Dave will show you how Nexus 6 uses technology and storytelling to help their clients craft their narrative. You will also explore how you can start telling and selling your story, not simply based on facts of what you do.

About Dave Makin, Founder and Creative Director of Nexus 6

Dave Makin was born in the small country village of Lymm, Cheshire, England. He then shortly moved to Canada and since has lived around the U.S. and Canada in Seattle, Honolulu, and back to Calgary, Canada. He now has his ABCs of citizenship covered, being American, British and Canadian. Dave eventually received his degree in Marketing from Iowa State University.

After a stint of working for others, which Dave found unchallenging, he founded Nexus 6 with the idea of creating an agency that provided him opportunity for personal growth.
